before the color, a conversation
why every hair color transformation at olas & flamingo starts with a consultation — not a bowl of bleach
there's a version of a color appointment where you sit down, show a photo, and someone starts mixing. we don't do that version.
at olas & flamingo, every color transformation starts with a consultation. not because we love meetings — because your hair deserves a plan before it deserves a process. the photo you bring us is the destination. the consultation is where we map the route.
health comes first. always.
here's the thing most people don't hear at a salon: the answer to "can we do this today?" is sometimes "not yet."
before we talk shades, we look at what your hair has been through. previous color. box dye. heat. water. the last salon. all of it lives in your strands, and all of it decides what's possible right now versus what's possible in three visits.
we would rather get you to your dream color slowly, with your hair intact, than get you there today with hair that won't survive the trip. healthy hair is the transformation. the color is what we get to do because of it.
so if your hair needs strength before it needs lightener, we'll tell you. we'll build that into the plan. and when we do lift, your color will actually hold, shine, and last — because it's sitting on hair that can carry it.
your life decides your color, not the other way around
a color that looks incredible but demands a touch-up every four weeks is only incredible if you'll actually come every four weeks.
so in your consultation, we ask about your life. how often do you realistically want to be in our chair — every month, every season, twice a year? do you wash daily or twice a week? are you in the sun, in the pool, in a helmet, in hard water? do you want ten minutes of styling in the morning or zero?
then we design backward from your answers. maybe that means a lived-in blonde with a soft root instead of a bright platinum line. maybe it's a gloss between full color visits. maybe it's dimension placed exactly where it grows out gracefully. the goal is color that looks intentional on day one and on day ninety — not color that punishes you for having a life.
you leave with a plan, not just a color
by the end of your consultation, you'll know three things:
where we're going. the real, honest version of your goal — what's achievable now and what we're building toward.
how many visits it will take. big transformations are usually a journey, not a single afternoon. we'll tell you the number up front, what happens at each visit, and roughly what to budget. no surprises at checkout, no surprises in the mirror.
how to care for it at home. a routine that fits your actual life — what to use, how often to wash, what to skip. the work we do in the chair is half the color. what happens at your sink is the other half.
color that lives with you
the best compliment we can get isn't "your work looks amazing today." it's when your color still looks like itself weeks later — growing out softly, holding its tone, fitting into your mornings without a fight.
that's what the consultation is for. a slower start for a color that lasts longer, looks better, and belongs to your life instead of interrupting it.
